I believe a mechanic stole my compressor..

The other day, I was riding in my friends 2002 Tundra which has 134XXX miles. His A/C works perfect, and I asked him if that was the original compressor and he said yes.

Well, couple years ago...the same mechanic I bought my car from said my compressor (the original) at about 136XXX miles was bad. They switched it out to a salvage part and then afterwards said it was the evaporator.

Silly me, not knowing about A/C back then...I dont think there was anything wrong with that compressor. I mean, how many miles do you get out of the original one?

Only reason Im thinking about it is because I keep having to switch out these AM compressors which go out shortly after the 24,000 mile warranty

Both my Cam and the Avy have their original AC compressors. 303k and 230k miles, respectively.

They can go bad, man. My old one leaked. And that was only at 170k.

I think your mistake was going for a salvaged one.

I have 125k and I need a new one. Current one Seizes up and stalls the engine.

I have the original one on my 00 and it's got almost 250k. But my 05 Saturn VUE had the OE one replaced at 38k for leaking at the seals. It's completely possible. Most people that want to take your money won't mess with A/C. It's a pain to deal with. I think it was a bad compressor.
