gaskets for tranny drain and differential filler & drain

will be ordering a bunch of small parts in a few days (mostly bolts, gaskets, need to replace differential filler plug, etc.).

was wondering, how often do you change (if ever) the gaskets for:

a) automatic transmission drain plug

b) differential filler plug

c) differential drain plug

It seems from OEM catalog that all above gaskets are same part number 90430-18008 ... I have to admit that last time i did drain and refill on tranny and diff I did not even notice there were any gaskets ... probably they were stuck to either plug or pan/body ... so, do you replace them ?

I clean the aluminum washer, and put a dab of RTV sealant on the plug.

Never replaced any of them. No RTV either, though. No leaks so far.

I "replaced" a transmission drain plug washer once, because it didn't actually have one. But otherwise, there is no reason to replace them, I don't see how they can possibly fail. RTV is not needed, it's a compression seal and works very very well.

Just pay attention to where the ring is, like you said it can stick the tranny or the plug and you might not realize it, then it falls off when you're putting it back in. Just get the filter kit and you're good. BTW, the one I bought last time was a cork gasket and it leaked, a neoprene gasket didn't.

with my last order (most serious part was missing bumper reinforcement, rest just bunch of bolts and washers and a diff filler plug which is stripped on my car) i took 3 new washers i mentioned above, they are cheap like 50 cents or so.
