brake light

A few days ago my dashboard brake light turned on and the cruise control stopped working.

I checked the brake fluid level and that is good. Where is a good place to start looking for the problem that caused the dashboard brake light to turn on?

the dashboard light indicating a light out (orange outline of car with (IIRC) three lines radiating) as oppesed to the light that says "brake" means a taillight is out or about to be out. check your rear lights. if they are all still functioning, be prapaired because one is about to go. its drawing more current and setting off the light on the dash.

Update the light is now off. Not sure why.

It was the red brake light that was on. No picture of a car or anything else.

All five brake lights appeared to be in working order before I originally posted.

good indication if you have other problems associated with brake light out light on, you may want to check the wires on the left side of where the trunk hinge is. the wires start to break and short out there from opening the trunk a million times.

As for the actual brake light on the dash:
Sometimes the E-brake doesn't return to its full "off position" and provides the random "light" action when its really a random driver action.
