3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Its been a good couple of months, & I have been pushing back getting a new computer for the longest time. I miss TN, but all seems to be well. My Camry still is in perfect health, I havent driven her much lately, but when I do, she's giving me a burning smell, no oil loss, I think it may be the paint on the exhaust manifold cover. I'm not worried, but she is running great. The Acura Legend is a work in progress, replacing stuff one by one, to get it to my maintanence standards. I have to do a headgasket job, as this one on the C32A is seeping, so that will be fun. But I love the car (not as much as the Camry), handles great, tranny is kinda rough (by design), the suspension is tighter, but she moves, and has heated seats.
I dont have any pictures , since my computer is done, but hopefully I'll get me to buy a new one, but the Legend is taking my money. High maintanence bit*h.
So how is everyone doing here? I see lynch still has the parts to build a car, but no car. Bird has a sexy lip on the rig, but the rest of you guys sigs arent telling me anything!
Thank You Guys!

Nice to see ya back man. Yeahhhh i'm still Toyota-less. Minus the fact that we now own a 2011 Sienna, and i'm driving the old van. See the sig. Hopefully another Toyota for me sometime this summer.

about time I answered, I thought I wouldn't be busy at work, and I could go on TN, but I guess things don't always work out. I checked everyone's stuff, and damn, every body has progress and its all good. Bird made his coupe more bad ass (somehow). projektvertx, your definatly in business, what are you lowered on? & your right, C32As blow headgaskets like clock work, I'll elaborate. Nervous, I was curious to see your rig fire up, and she looks good. Is she running perfect? Spitfire, your rig looks sick like usual, when it comes to a sick looking sedan, its impossible to overlook you. Great Work. & Lynch, get a Camry! Still on the green Toyota binge? get a seagrave rig!
With me, my Camry is back as my go to girl, she's been good. My Legend runs okay but, her headgasket is done. It seems it's failed in a way where oil is not introduced to the coolant or vice versa, but I assume the compression pressure is enough to push air through the coolant orifices. On the highway, all of the coolant is pushed in to the overflow in a matter of miles. The radiator hoses bulge due to the air pressure and the engine basically air cooled because the engine is running with no coolant. Scary thought, but as long as she's moving her temp needle is fine, but once she's stopped she shoots up. She hasn't fully overheated but, I am tired of slacking, so I started with removing my top end, I'm going to replace all of the gaskets and seals so she'll run like new. But it seems she was neglected in her 88K life, its a shame but a work in progress. I love her though, she grips with the stock suspension, and all the luxury options are great. I just bought her a double din screen, elsewise the interior is already in the 21st century. I talked to one_to_hate about it all already, great guy, and damn his suspension setup is jaw dropping, his rims are so damn wide.
Thanks fellas, I apologize for my delay.

yeah, I definatly remember the springs look real good.
I haven't pulled everything off just yet, I'm waiting until the weekend when I have the time. If the head is all in spec and not warped, I won't be machining. If they are, a 50% of the Legend community says to machine, while others say to just to get the top end off another engine. Personally I hope there is no warp so I can just get them cleaned, but if they are, I'm not quite sure what route to take.
you'll never see a forum so scared of a SHG/BHG ever. There is so much on it, and everyone talks about the possible cause. Some bring up cooling system maitanence, the sheer design, because it seems that 90% of the time, it will blow on the #3 cyl. and the other 10% of the time is will blow on the #6, which are the rear most cyl. closest to the firewall. (the engine is mounted transversely). So it seems like a weakness in design but also, a guy who maintains merticulous records for his car, has driven well over 400K has never had his HG blow. So, inall I hope to get it all sorted out.
