Replacing my passenger side cv axle due to split outer boot. My mechanic said I need a motor mount too due to engine leaning forward at acceleration. My question is what is the name of the motor mount next to the passenger cv axle and what is the name of the motor mount between the radiator and the engine directly behind the hood latch? This one has "A/T" on the rubber boot? They both look like the same part?? Also which one would cause this symptom of leaning at take off????

The one near the passenger side axle is the rear engine mount. The one at the front is the front engine mount. There's also a transmission mount on the driver's side. And of course the dogbone mount up top to the left of the motor.
Maybe someone else can comment about which one can cause what your mechanic described.
By the way, what year car do you have and what engine? And how many miles?

hey Haux thanks, I've been using the site for some time, but the search function works pretty well! It is the 2.2 L 4 cyl, 1994 le with 155,000 miles. This job has turned into quite the chore, going from just the cv axle and mount to both inner and outer tie rods, ball joints and wheel studs. The mechanic did say the front mount was bad, but I didn't know which was which. Thankfully it will be short work from here, the axle pulled out easy once I found that retaining clip!

So are you just getting advice from the mechanic and doing the work yourself?

pretty much yeah... just replaced that front motor mount which really was totally shot, i could push the top part up and down and hear squishing noises. I'll end up taking it back up there to get it aligned, but they wanted $300 total for the axle and 200 for the mount, which I just knocked out in two hours for $60, so a penny saved...

Excellent. What part of Oklahoma are you in? If you were near me, I would have offered that front mount for free. I replaced mine a few months ago, but the original appeared to be as good as new.
Also, some people here will recommend that mounts be replaced with OEM mounts. Apparently the quality of the rubber or whatever is in 'em is better. That's what I did. I'm sure aftermarket ones will work just as well, but maybe not last as long? *shrug*

just got the wheel stud job done on one wheel. I replaced all of them just to be safe b/c three studs broke off when I went to start on the cv axle, thats when I knew I was in for some work... Now I'm working on breaking the outer tie rod free from the inner. On the motor mount, I went with the cheapest I could find. Napa had one for $130, autozone's was $60. Located here in okc but want to get it down and drive it around first so make sure that mount was the problem. Thanks for the offer, I'm sure I'll be needing help again sometime soon
