Question Camry (gen3) Instrument Cluster

Hi,
Im from Australia, and I want to upgrade my instrument cluster to one from a higher grade Camry.

the gen3 Camrys in Aus, only had the Auto Trans Indicator (P,R,N,D,2,1) in the instrument cluster for the higher grade models. My cheapo Camry model didnt have this.

I am able to get this cluster from a junk yard, but would it work in my car? and do i need to replace the whole cluster, or just insert the indicator into my existing one?

thanks.

The PRND2L vertical display is a module in the Gauge Cluster. It can be pulled out from the back. The only thing holding it in is a tab that you need to push down, and the cable that attaches to it. Also, you'll wanna take the overlay on the front of the cluster that has the vertical rectangular shape cut out.

Lemme know if I wasnt clear enough.

You will have to check the back of your current gauge cluster to see if it has a plug for the Gear Indicator module... if not, then youre outta luck. But I believe it should be tucked in behind there regardless, or it would have cost Toyota much more money to make different harnesses for something as trivial as a gear indicator.

yeah, i installed a Digital Clock and Glovebox light a little while ago and their were plugs ready to be used for them.......so i assume it shouldnt be any difference for the gear indicator lights , but ill check anyway.

also would you reckon that there would already be wiring for something more extravagant like Power Windows?
