waste spark ignition and plugs?

So the 3vzfe has a waste spark system, yes? I was just wondering what would happen to a plug without platinum on either electrode. Aside from eroding the electrodes, could it damage the resistor and kill the plug?

I think from what I've read....waste spark system just wears out the electrodes twice as fast, as it wears both electrodes...so platinum helps slow down the wear on the center & side....

Other than that...doubt it makes much difference! You just will be replacing a LOT sooner without the hardened electrodes!
And it needs to be both sides as the spark jumps both ways...I.E. ...double platinum.

AND...some people say that certain brands and styles run better than others...but I'm certainly not any kind of expert in that area!

So I tend to buy what ever most people are having good luck with... or I just get OEM plugs!

Nope. It's not a waste spark system. Old school distributor w/ 6 high voltage plug wires going to each of the 6 plugs.

+1 what BMR says. Waste spark system is 1MZ 96+ (3 coils). 1MZ 94 and 95 are also not waste spark system (has 6 coils)
