Fan motor problem

With all the hot days we've been having our a/c is running more than usual. Yesterday I noticed that the fan was not working on the first 3 positions, but did work on Med and High. I'm about to call my mechanic to book an appointment to have it fixed but would like to have an idea of what kind of repairs and costs to expect.

Since the motor works on med and High but not the lower ones, chances are it is heater blower resistor. One of the symptoms of that going bad is that it usually starts at the lower speeds not working and then moves on to the next speed until only high works, which is in the motor without any resistance.

I just called my local Toyota dealer to get the part, which I will be picking up later. Because of the location of the blower motor resistor (under dash passenger side), I am wondering if this problem could be related to another problem: a wet carpet on the passenger side from the a/c. Apparently the a/c not completely draining to the outside. Could the drip be effecting the fan motor? Any idea how I can get rid of the a/c dripping on the inside?

sounds like your drain tube is clogged, or worse, your evaportor is bad. I would have that checked out. It is normal to have condensation, but that water usually drains out a drain tube. That is why when you use the AC and you stop or park the car you see water running from underneath the car. That is the condensation from your evaporator draining, which is under the dash.

what needs to be done to unclog the drain tube? If the evaporator is bad, any idea what it might cost to replace (part and materials)?
