GMB Water Pump?

I am going to be replacing my timing belt soon and would like your opinion on GMB brand water pump reliability. I came across this listing on ebay and it has everything that I need for the job. I know that the factory Aisin water pump is the most reliable but would like to know if anyone has had experience with this GMB brand.

A while ago I replaced the water pump on my corolla with a new Napa brand made in mexico water pump and I ended up replacing it every 2 years. It had a lifetime warranty but it was not fun to replace.

Just don't. Get something like this instead.

More money, but it's worth every single penny in the aggravation and future costs that you save.

OEM only. Think about it. Has your OEM water pump given you any problems? Nope. It's worth it on the long run. Also... Toyota doesn't do their own reconditioning. So buy new.

OK the consensus is to buy oem only. I agree the last thing you want to be worrying about is a non oem water pump going bad and having to do it all over again.

Thanks for your opinion guys!

I have a GMB water pump in my 95 Camry. It never gave me any problems for the last 10,000 miles. By the way, GMB is an aftermarket part made in Japan.

The fleaBay links don't work for me. But you can get Aisin pump/belt/pulley kit on rockauto or from eBay's AirCabinMan. Also ToyotaPartsMan here on TN is a dealer so check with him too. Aisin pumps have higher failure rates in Gen 5+ engines for some reason, but their pumps for earlier Camrys should still be ok.

As far as GMB pumps go, their instructions specifically say not to use silicated coolants. So I consider these cheap pumps with rubber seals. GMB also makes idler/tensioner bearings in many aftermarket timing kbits. For me they hold up better than Koyo in some cases. For others GMB bearings leaked grease. So the miles vary.

NAPA carries a couple of different grades of pumps for different budgets. But their premium line seem to hold up as good as OEMs. In the past few years they switched to Gates from Airtex as Gates set up their own factories off shore. I haven't tried Gates pumps yet but always used their excellent belts and hoses.
