Sound System help please?

hi guys, i am planning to change my sound system in my camry xle 1999 and i bought the following sets of speakers
  • Alpine SPR-69C 6x9" 2-way 100 watts speakers
  • Alpine Type-S SPS-600 80 watts speaker
i currently have stock amp from toyota and i was wondering if the speakers will work or do i have to get an amp as well because im tight on money at the moment.

oh and since the speakers are 2 way, does that make much a difference or is that normal? sorry im a really newb when it comes to cars, thanks in advance.

You can use your stock amp.. but the sound quality won't be much better unless you switch it out for a better one. Granted, it will improve..just not as much as switching the amp/head unit and using the stock speakers.

2 way only means there are two cones, no worries.. it doesn't make any difference

There is no point in Amping your stock headunit. Its too much trouble and more expensive at this stage. Go out and find a new aftermarket headunit (Alpine) or find a good condition used headunit. You will notice a significant difference right away.

Once you get bored and want some better sound quality than AMPing would be a good. Don't forget AMPing doesn't just require an Amplifier, it also requires wiring and tearing apart some upholstry and drilling. Keep that in mind.

Make sure you listen to your new speakers on your stock headunit first and then.... install the new one so you can hear the difference
