Antenna motor doesn't stop

The antenna always extends and retracts perfectly but now the motor doesn't stop when its extending out the antenna and it grinds until you turn it off to retract it back in.

Problem with the electronics in the antenna itself. The antenna senses when the antenna is fully extended by seeing stress on the motor, essentially. It's not seeing that resistance anymore, and so the motor isn't shutting off. Easiest solution: replace the antenna with a manual one.

I wanted to make sure it wasn't just something simple like a contact switch before I trashed it.

Sure thing. The power antennas on these cars are basically pure junk.
