question on positive battery wires

hey guys,

just wanted to know if any of you ever replaced the positive battery wires with any aftermarket kit (e.g. Belden from NAPA).

the kit comes with new positive battery terminal and looks like that:

in my opinion wires are way too long (red one), but it may do, i could actually trim it to my needs right ?

asking because battery wires on my car are suspect, meaning they work but hell knows how good they are.

Dealers sell only the negative OEM wires for battery and they told me the postiive ones are part of car wire harness and i should get the positive ones from a parts store (aftermarket) or go to local mechanic shop ... kind of surprised with that ...

the very same part numbers apply to 1mz-fe.

it seems the positive wires (no. 2) are OEM replaceable after all !!!

Just my 2 cents but most of those have 1/5th the quality of yoda factory wires for multiple reasons.
- Lower wire count and larger wire diameter. OEM = higher strand count, lower wire diameter = better!
- cheap exposed lead. Yoda parts are something else that doesn't seem to corrode.
- Yoda parts are direct fit.

Unless those are damaged, why replace them? (Cosmetic damage???)

i simply may need new terminal connectors (not terminals themselves, but could use new ones as well).
old terminals (and wire connectors) had LOTS of oxidation (dark metal color) and heavy whitish yellowish acidic powder buildup on them. after thorough clean up they look not bad, but still there is partial discoloration on wire connectors. not sure if it makes any electrical difference.

I replaced both of mine recently, due to corrosion. Starter screams like a banshee now.

nah, my terminals are fine, i cleaned them well with a steel wire brush. they were heavily oxidized, no rust.

I rather need new cables as they come with connectors (those are not so good on my car) that are installed on them already.
I'm talking about those connectors that you screw onto terminals (with nuts). mine are kind of discolored after cleaning of heavy buildup.

for now it works, but am unsure if it works good enough (having some electrical issues).

how was replacing the positive? is it difficult? would like some help i need to replace both of mines.

I haven't done it.

I only replaced one of two fusible links (fusible wire) with aftermarket matching one from NAPA (it was part of positive wiring to battery), but then discovered the root cause of my electrical problems which was a missing chunk of wiring harness in passenger side wheel well and had to eventually replace the whole front wiring harness (not the one for engine) section from dealer. it come with new battery wires and terminals.

I sanded off the corrosion from the connectors. Helped alot, but my starter is weak, especially when it's warm.
