3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
I talked to someone at VIS today about the possibility of them producing a trunk lid for the Gen 3 Camry. He said if we paid for them upfront and ordered a minimum of 15 lids they would do it.
I have been wanting a carbon fiber trunk for my Gen 3.5 and though i have seen two for sale since i began looking, it seems as though the ones that were made years ago in a group buy are not of the best fit or finish quality. I have never seen one in person so don't hate on me guys but this is just what both guys who were selling them said. Not sure who made the original batch, but VIS is top quality!
All that to say, if you would be interested in a group buy please let me know. He is supposed to be getting back to me at the beginning of next week with a price.

Yea I've got one of those trunk, the gel clearcoat cracked not long after i got it and starts to oxidize I'm wondering if there's even a way to re gel clear it, But I'm still happy with it, so much lighter than the stock trunk. Good luck with this.

Thanks guys, Danny
yeah, they approched my a while back about doing this, getting 15 is going to be the hardest part. but it will be quality, my VIS CF hood has better fitment than my buddies Seibon hood on his Evo.

Yup just like my younger siblings cf hood for his civic Si from Seibon, the fitment sucked but his Ek's cf hood was a Vis basically flawless compared to Seibon, so imo Vis should be good from having big gap/fitment issues there.
Perfect fitment still won't make anywhere close to $15 people. Unless there was a deal and people found that they could profit by reselling after they're done with it.

Exactly. As interesting an idea as it is, and as good a fitment as it may be, the sad part is most people on here are:
a) Unwilling to pay for such a thing, even if it mean re-selling at a profit later
b) Useless to most, since most of our cars are DD's anyways...

Yes indeed! I didn't want to sell it, but i needed the money. It's no use having it on a DD.
I agree with everyone else on VIS Racing's quality. My hood is a perfect fitment as well as my brother's CF hood on his FD3S.
yeah i mean its my dd but i couldnt pass up on it since i was driving out to atlanta anyways. i know the fitment will be a pain but i love being the only fixed up camry in myrtle beach let alone one that has CF .
im a parts whore what can i say =] mainly rare stuff now
as much as id love to see this happen Danny, sadly, this community is getting smaller everyday. there are bearly enough active members in the gen3 & 4 section alone to to warrant a GB and maby 3 who will actually pay.
