How to remove 1998 camry V6 V-bank cover

I have a 1998 camry, and the engine is V6. I tried to replace the spark plugs, but I do not know how to remove the V-bank cover.

I removed the two bolts, but the cover looks like be hooked by something. I was afraid to damage it, so I did not pull it out too hard.

I need some advise to help me remove the v-bank cover.

My engine is the same as thread
New 1MZ engine cover

you don't need to remove the cover to change spark plugs. just unbolt the 3 coils in the front, pull them out, then change the front 3 spark plugs.

then reach around in the rear, pull out the plug boot, then change the spark plug. there are 3 in the rear. yuu'll just have to feel for them. took me a while but i got them done.

Really? I do not know that. I read a thread which said how easy to replace the spark plugs. I though I still need to remove the cover.

I will try to find the 3 rears.

By the way, do you know how to remove the cover? Maybe I need remove it later.

Perhaps there's a misunderstanding here. . .

The plastic V-bank cover vs the valve cover? The V-bank cover comes off after removal of the two hex cap nuts and pull towards you and up. The Valve cover need not be removed.

As you pull the cover towards you two spring clips will disengage. You'll see once off.

V-bank On. . .


V-bank Off. . .

PS - that's a 95 up there and has 6 coil packs. Yours only has three in the front and then three wires to the rear. The rear is fun for some and less fun for others but easily done in a couple hours. I suggest an assortment of 3/8" drive extensions and good quality spark plug socket that doesn't drop the plug.

Mine is not the same as yours. It is the same as the link as I gave in the first post.

But I think they should be the same to remove it. I will try yours.

I did search from here for two days and I did not get the answer. I have the manual book, but it just says remove the two bolts, but do not talk about how to remove it. It say there are two clips under the cover, but how to let the cover off? I think I am not the good operator. I will try to learn it.

Once the fasteners are removed from the front of the cover pull up on the cover. First one side and then the other. It takes quite a bit of force to get the clips to release. But like dorifuto.boi said, it doesn't look like you need to remove the cover to replace the spark plugs.
