Brembo 25358 vs 25357 and are they really that good???
So, I recently read all the Brembo/Akebono combo threads and I'm willing to give Brembos a try. I've actually found great pads in the Autozone Duralast "Golds" (and ONLY the golds). In fact, I've bought them the last decade even when they were only 2 yr warranty just because they were that good. (grab as good as Toyota and last a little longer).
BUT.......if there's one thing I've been able to do since 1998 in my Camry it's WARP ROTORS!! There is NO rotor out there that I can't warp. And I can do the Gen 4 brake job from heaven!! I may suck at other stuff, but on Gen 4 brake jobs.....I'm a friggin' expert after 12 years.
Anyway, noticing Amazon shows 2 different models. Wondering what the diff is?? And are they really that good or might I just get the latest AutoZone/Napa premium rotors again??

Can't answer to the pad quality or differences. . .
Curious, do you torque your wheels to the specified torque using a quality torque wrench and have you considered that bad wheels coupled with variations in the torque from stud to stud could lead to warp as the heat and cool?
I guess I'm just trying to say there are several things that can lead to damaged rotors not to mention the quality of the material itself. . .
Care to shore more history on where all the bad parts come from?

Well, historically I've bounced between Autozone and Pep Boys. I quit doin' Pep Boys when I got their cheap Chinese rotors & those suckers warped within a month....(no lie). Used Aimco (canada) before, but they're pretty whimpy too. These last Autozone rotors weren't too bad but still don't make it more than a year before slight warping.
I don't use a torque wrench on my lug nuts, but I do use an impact, followed by hand tightening in a pretty uniform opposing fashion. (Just old-school but it's always worked for me).
I think Gen 4 camrys are just under-engineered on brakes. I've mentioned that several times here before on TN. Take my '95 Rolla all the way up to 2011 Rolla & those things will throw you out the windshield!!!
Anyway....really just lookin' to see if the Brembos are really that good and/or if there's any difference between the 2 part #'s.

I have Brembo rotors and pads. I put them on beginning of June, they are great rotors I don't know what's the difference between the 2 I just went to the local mom and pop's parts store and asked for Brembo's that fit my car, and put on what they gave me I would check Brembo's catalog and see what fits
I've severely warped an OEM Toyota rotor before during hard braking at the end of '07 Long story short, that's when I learned MI drivers are idiots.

I looked up the Brembo blanks on http://tirerack.com and they have the 25358 listed as front rotors for the v6 model and 25357 as the front rotors for the i4 model.
So:
v6 - use 25358 (front only)
i4 - use 25357 (front only)

the only rotors i can say for sure never warped were the brembo blanks that i used on my brake upgrade. thats likely a combo of the larger rotor displacing heat better and the better rotor. what i have found is that braking habits had a huge factor in how easily rotors warp.
Have any of you guys ever considered EBC as a stock rotor and pad replacement? I have always sworn by these rotors and pads and always will back their quality and performance. For one, I have used them on several vehichles from a 2002 Ford Windstar to a 2004 Acura TL. In all instances these brakes out perform any stock brake setup I have ever had. I just recently ate through a set of EBC pads on my toyota..not once did I get the dreaded shimmy in the wheel (other than feeling slight vibrations caused by the slots in the rotor and deglazing of the pads) and I still managed to pump out 80, 000km (50k miles) out of a set of front brakes. If you ask me, that's better than any stock set you can get, and I drive my cars relatively "spirited". Anyhow, I would highly recommend trying out a set of those before putting down the camry brakes.
I put on the EBC sport rotors (dimpled and slotted) and then slapped on the 6000 series Greenstuff pads to match up with the camry. I'd never use anything other than this anymore
^^ Agreed! I'd say its good stuff but is more than the typical person is willing to pay. THe part that gets missed is paying for it three times over by buying junk and replacing it every year.
I've done lots of reading on this topic and would recommend EBC hardware to anyone.
AS for the OP, I'd suggest use of an actual TORQUE WRENCH may be of value!
FWIW: The fact that a replacement EBC rotors survive on a Ford product (which are almost always under-braked/over-weight) says allot!

Some tips that keep them alive longer:
Always make sure the hub to the rotor is a clean mating surface.
Always make sure the rotor to the wheel is a clean mating surface.
Always use a Torque Wrench on the lug nuts. Even the locking ones.
Avoid super-heating the brakes/rotors/pads and parking the car. Drive them until they cool.
Avoid setting the E-brake on hot rotors!
Use hub center adapters on your wheels if the ID of the wheel does not match the OD of the hub.

I considered EBC pads last year, but they are expensive (was thinking green model), then i saw the price on their rotors and stepped out. in the end i kept original OEM rotors (planning to replace them with Brembo blanks after Winter) and for now I use Hawk HPS pads <-- good stuff!!! a little too dusty IMO, but washing wheels once a months helps to keep them looking good
even with 78k miles old OEM rotors *never resurfaced yet* those Hawk HPS pads and fresh brake fluid saved me from crashing the front end into a side of passing car who suddenly jumped out of the corner when taking an unlucky left turn in poor visibility spot.
