SO I just sold my custom projector headlights.. and ordered another set of black chrome Depo's. I plan on still using the Mini H1 projectors but this time I'm going to put them in the low beam area instead of the high beam area (Was easier to fit the MDX projectors in the low beam area since they were bigger). So now since it's a bixenon projector, what do you guys think I should put in the high beam area? No gatling guns please
I was thinking maybe an LED 9005 bulbs (like the one drewfuspx has a thread on).. or maybe something else.
I'd do a quad Mini H1 projector but that seems like overkill, and I'd still like to sell the headlights when I move on from the camry. 2 sets of Mini H1's + the depos would cost $430 in parts and I'm pretty sure even though it would have better performance than any other projector in the camry world, no one would be willing to dish out that kinda money for headlights like I would
Wow man! I applaud your willingness and patience to do retrofits! This retrofit would be your third?
Personally, I like the D4S LS460 projectors in the low beam, and the 9005 LS460 projectors in the high beam, but with that setup, just the projectors are nearly 500$...

The LS460 projectors are not only expensive.. they extremely hard to find. Yeah, it would be my third retrofit.. I love headlights if people couldn't tell already.
I'm already planning to do demon eyes in the mini h1s.. this creates light on the lens of the projector, and I'm not talking about angel eyes.. I've been there done that. The demon eyes create the effect that the projector lens are actually eyes. Like this:
The arc reactor seems like a cool mod, I might hook it up to a remote control LED system. The gatling gun shrouds do make it easier to get the arc reactor look too!
More ideas, AH. And if anyone wants a retrofit done, PM me.. I'm willing to do them and not for a lot either.. I love doing it. Just school's starting so I'll probably only be able to do them during winter break.

I typed it into ebay and 4 popped up immediately. They are more expensive then they are hard to find:

To OP: I know that the mini h1 is the smallest projector and also the easiest to mount since it has the threaded locknut on the back end but in such a large size housing I'd def step it up with an fx-r bixenon or a similar projector. Either that or quad mini h1's. I saw a 3rd gen on hidplanet with quad mini h1's and it really wasn't overkill.
Overkill is more like quad fx-r's lol like this guy
Mini H1's are good for a first time retro but I think going with a better projector for your next retro is a challenge and you'll get better light output.
For my first retro just for experience I put the min h1's into my fogs, it was a tough task but I eventually got it done.
I'd raise the bar with a better projector for your next retro, challenge yourself!
It wasn't quad MH1 projectors on the third gen.. that was mine haha and it was mini h1's and mdx's.. i didn't even turn the MDX on. Quad FX-R was just his idea, gold94corolla you're talking about. it was an experiment mostly, but it worked out well for it.
We have a large headlight, and the mini h1 works out perfectly for even the high beam area. I just wanted to put it in the low beam area, because headlights usually have low beam on the outer edge of headlight. And for the price, nothing beats the MH1 projectors, that's why I went with it and will be using it again.
Ehh while it may be the 'best bang for the buck' with bulbs, shrouds, and the projector for 120 + shipping, headlight retrofits are sorta something more serious than say interior led lighting. Mini h1's make a good first time retro but I personally would wait and save the extra 50 bucks or so to get the fx-r's or a similar superior projector. I see retrofitting in a different way as it's more of a long term investment, its not something you can change really change out easily once completed. However! To each their own. I love my mini h1's as a good first retro but I'll probably go with a superior projector for a little more money down the line in a full headlamp retrofit.
Honestly if youve seen fx-r in person, the output is only slightly better than mini h1. for an extra $50 without shrouds.. not worth it. Id wait for the s2000-r but theyre not out yet. Still the mini h1 is just as good as the tl projector but at a fraction of the price.
idea just popped into my head.. totally not related but didnt think it deserved a new thread:
bumper lights as parking light and parking light as parking as bumper lights. use white led.. not that bright and put into bumper light and use amber led in parking light as turn signals. ill do it next friday probably. another customization mod... me likeyy
