Car not running right

i've been having a problem with the wagon. on cold start, the car drives fine and starts up fine, but once it gets hot, if you come to a complete stop, you'll have to slowly gas it, in order for the car not to die. Also, once it dies, it'll take a while to fire it up again. Sometimes, you will need to step on the gas pedal to start the car. If the car is in park mode, the engine sounds normal, but once put into reverse or drive, the car drops idle, and it'll die. anyone have any idea what could be wrong? THis is a 92 Camry Wagon with the 5sfe motor.

The most common cause of this problem is a dirty idle air control valve. Start with cleaning the throttle body paying particular attention to spraying the cleaner liberally down in to the square or diamond shaped port in the base of the throttle body. That port leads to the idle air control valve. Spray down there first and let it soak for 10 or 15 minutes while you go on to clean the rest of the throttle body. Here's a DIY with some great pictures on how to do it:

My next guess would be a weak coil or a weak fuel pump, but try the throttle body/idle air control valve cleaning first.

I'd try the coil first. A dirty IAC valve will present problems at startup and not when it gets hot.
