NEW HID setup for my GEN 3.5

OK following in the footsteps of Tony, i have compleated my HID retrofit. Using some D2S bulbs from a new BMW and some 2001 A4 projectors i was able to make a perfect looking HID setup. I was unsucessfull in sanding the lens, so i cut it and melted lexan to make them clear. Hope you like the pics.

Tell me what you think!

Just wondering if you could maybe pm me some info on how you cut it out and metled the lexan on so damn good. I currently have almost identical setup on mine...minus the cleared out lights. And how much did it cost you for lexan. Thanks

well i messed up mounting them about 3 times before i got the projectors mounted pretty good, and then it took a couple tries to get the lexan cut and mounted properly too. So it took about a week total off and on.

The sheet of lexan cost me $5 at home depot
I basiicaly took the peice that i cut out, adn placed a similar size peice of lexan over it and put a heat gun on it for about 15 minutes and pressed and clamped it into place sot htat it would mold roughly to the shape of the old peice. Then jsut some heavy sanding to get it to fit in place, then glued it tight.

That's a nice way to get perfect output
I know a couple of guys did the same thing... There was a Chevy S10, and older Jeep Cherokee that also melted a piece of clear lexan right in front of the projector.

That blue band sure would create some nice colour flicker

All projectors are pretty much jsut as good. I jsut happened to get a good deal on a set from an Audi A4.

one question though, how wide is the beam? i'm asking because on the last pictures, i noticed that their's like a dim spot on the ground to the left. so is that my eyes? or just the camera? haha

The beam is actualy much wider than what showed up on the picture, to give you a rough idea it's allmost 180 degress. it's roughly i'd say like 150 or so, it's pretty wide and the light goes very far.

The beam pattern is impressive. Makes me wanna go the projector route as well...
(i've been thinking this: IS300 reflectors glued on my blackened solara reflector w/ d2r's and casper capsules).

If your going with capsers you might as well jsut use your stock reflectors cause the glair will be about the same. I'd recomend projectors over reflectors thoguh as i have tried both.
