Hello, new Camry owner here.....
Hello my name is Art and I have just acquired (yesterday actually) a "new to us" daily driver. It is a 1996 Camry LE V6 that I got from a friend. It has 177K and I got it for $1K. Great car. This car will become my brothers car when he takes off to college in a few days.
There is some work to be done of course and I have already been searching this very resourceful forum but I have a few questions.
1. The car idles/runs smooth and when driving it there are no strange noises (clunking or otherwise) coming from anywhere which is good. There is one thing though. When I accelerate as if to pass, the car tends to fishtail/sway/pull to the side a little bit. Kinda scared me the first time I drove it. I figure its either an alignment issue or perhaps the tires need to be checked/rotated. Thats on the TO-DO list.
2. The stereo was stolen after the passenger side window was busted out in the past. They cut the wires and somehow managed to take their time with removing the dash bezel and left it intact.....Anyways, I searched Installer.com and saw that part number 71-1761 is the harness that would plug into the factory stereo. I plan to purchase this to attach back onto the cut harness wires. Funny thing about this is my Dad has a 2005 Tundra from which we removed the factory stereo. Installer.com says it also uses part number 71-1761 as the harness that plugs into the factory radio. Does this mean I can take the stereo from the Tundra and wire it into the Camry? Is there a feature like Theft Lock on the Tundra radio that will have it locked to the Tundra's VIN????
3. I need to replace all 4 interior door handles because they are all cracked, broke, and or have parts missing to some degree. I have already found several how-to write-ups on this forum for that.
Anyways, thats it. I'm sure I will have further questions down the line and I hope to be able to contribute back to this forum in time. Thanks.
