Hi, I'm a newbie. Well, I took my car for detailing at Ziebart yesterday and last night my keyless entry wouldn't work. Tested the batteries and those are fine. I have one of the semi-oval remotes and can't get it to work. I have tried to look for a switch but can't find one on the vehicle. Ziebart said to bring it back and they will have a look. But i don't wanna pay to have it looked at. It is a 1996 Toyota Camry.
Interesting. Could the battery in the remote be dead? Factory toyota keyless?

96 Camry, if its an original one, it may have gone bad. Happened to my 96, I eventually just had to replace the remote. Years of lint from being in the pocket, dropped, age, etc. They don't last forever, unfortuneatly.

It is Toyota factory installed, but I don't think '96 had keyless. The previous owner may have added it afterwards. It has an original toyota keyless remote. The funny thing is both remotes are not working because I had two...when I saw that one wasn't working I tried the other. It's really beginning to annoy me. Very frustrating not having my keyless entry when it's raining cats and dogs here. No swicth or anything in the vehicle that the deatilers might have touched?
'96 could have keyless installed from the dealer as an option. I'd just open the remote up (using a coin, flat head, or finger nails) and replace the battery. If that doesn't work... maybe trying buying a new remote on ebay. There COULD be a switch in the interior for valet mode... but their always tricky to find.

I had a 95 camry with factory option keyless. They installed a switch near the driver's side kick panel. When I installed my own alarm on my 92 I put the valet switch inside the small compartment that opens to the left of the steering wheel in the dash. I think most people leave the switches near the driver's side as it's closer to all the other connections that have to be made. Is it possible that the alarm went off when they were servicing and disconnected something to make it stop? Mine gets power directly off the positive battery terminal, did you check to see if everything was connected?
