1999 Camry auto V6 differential question

So let me get this straight, the 4 cyl differential have separate drain and fill plugs. The 1999 V6 differential have separate drain plugs but can be fill throught the ATF tube??? So if I just drain a refill, the ATF, my differential would get clean too? This system is not making any sense to me...Can someone with experience comment on this? Thanks.

I just recently had the same question you have haha. I did a tranny drain and fill and wondered the same thing. My car is a 94 1MZ with the A541E and i've been confirmed by King (Eye8Pussies) that the tranny and diff can be filled through the dipstick tube. For the 5S motors, it's supposed to be a separate housing so you would have to use the filler plug on the side of the diff to fill up the diff. You would have to remove the drain plug on the differential to drain the rest of the tranny fluid out. If you have the A541E tranny, they do have separate housings but it's on the same transaxle so you could fill tranny fluid through the dipstick.

Searchy. . . .
Then you would see that I too asked the same damn question 4+ years ago!

Neep Your Opinion, Diff to Full, trans Low A541E
Neep Your Opinion, Diff to Full, trans Low A541E

I would suggest you pull the plug on the diff to get all the goods out the bottom AND inspect the magnet.
