Tiniting in MD

Just called a guy who was making state inspection for my wagon. The car has front windows tinted and he said he can't issue an inspection certificate until I get tint legality certificate. He said I can do it somewhere in Glen Burnie. Anybody knows anything about this? I know that MD allows 35% tint on front windows which should be pretty dark, right?

what hes talking about it taking it to an MVA and having a state cop test it. once you pass, you will get an ok. if your car has 35% or darker youll have to remove it because the car has a slight tint anyways so when tested, even with 35%, it will show lower.

I've no idea, actually, what is the tint currently on my wagon. So, I guess, tomorrow, I'll visit the ASED at Glen Burnie and will see.

good luck with testing your tint

here are your state limits on tinting in case you need them:
http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/MD/

as far as i know the factory glass tint is 70% (light in) already so you multiply that by whatever tint you got to have the actual value of light in.

Yeah... What worries me is that most likely the tint was installed while car was in Florida, and there they allow 28%, whenever MD allows only 35%... Oh, well...

hmmm ... if it doesn't look too dark then it might be good. not everybody in Florida uses one or two steps up from 5% limo tinting ... i think ...

Yeah, no luck. Like I said, the car is from FL and they allow 28% versus 35 in MD. Today I visited MVA and they measured that front doors has 28, rear 32 and the back windows 19. Moreover, the police guy said that I need to remove ALL tinting from ALL windows. However, the inspection guy was worrying about front doors only. I think I remove tinting from front doors only, don't want to remove all tinting.
Fenixus, is your FL Solara tinted, btw?

sad to hear that. i hate tinting laws around here, especially they are different in each state! what idiots came up with that!

in Jersey i can't put ANY tint on front side windows, it's ridiculous ... though in return i can tint the hell out of all rear windows hehe.

yeah, my FL solara is tinted, but only in the rear, so it should be good for NJ inspection (no limits on rear tinting).

anyways, the rear window tint has bubbles, so i guess i will be replacing it all with new ones after some time (in Spring maybe).

All windows were tinted except for the front windshield.

fix it ticket means no fine, U have to show them within 2 weeks that U got it fix. Like if your headlight go out, or your tail light. They'll give U a fix it ticket.
