Question Aus vs US A541E Final Drive ratio, fact or fiction

Is there any truth to the Aussie A541E,s having a different final drive ratio compared to the others? Its not much, but if rebuilding it might be worth checking into. . .

Example at 4000RPM with 225 50R17 in 1st gear its 27mph vs 30.5mph.

(USA 1997-2004) gear ratios 1st 2.81,2nd 1.549,3rd 1.00,4th 0.735, final drive 3.625
(Aust 2000-2004) gear ratios 1st 2.81,2nd 1.549,3rd 1.00,4th 0.735, final drive 3.933
Then again, some literature says its the other way!

Just looking at the trans a little closer these days. . .

This compares the 540 to 541, changes when bolted to the 1MZ.

Page 8 (scanned pg 73) explains squat and how shifting from N to D the trans initially engages 2nd gear to reduce vehicle squat. I always wondered how they did that!

Regards,
73

Rob,
Thanks for looking. . .
You scan through that PDF? It has some details about the 541 I hadn't seen elsewhere. I've never gutted one of these and I don't know there weak spots. But stuff like the OD direct clutch pack only have two friction discs seems kinda weak. I'm curious if a stock drum can physically hold more friction and steel discs?? Same is true of the direct clutch and the overdrive brake having 3 discs? Can the drums hold more by machining a groove in the drums???

I started looking at reprogrammed valve bodies OMG at least three companies put a premium on those. I'll write them and see if they'll spill "what their special VB will help". . .

i couldnt find my tranny code so im not sure if its the same. i know for the FI guys we worry about the clutch packs and i believe the springs in the valve body (hence the TRD EBC for between shifts). adjusting the kickdown cable helps though, make the tranny shift quicker.
