i was thinkin of buyin the obx catback but idk if its loud, is ridiculous i hate it wen is all loud n u only going 5mph, i want it to sound neat nicely tune well wat do u guys know bout the obx? if is possible a video thnx
I know a few people have OBX headers and the y-pipe, not sure about a cat-back exhaust though. From what I've heard, it's not very loud and has a nice tone to it.
Youtube has a few vid's, so you can get an idea. Bigbird has a video of his exhaust on there.
You have a 5S-FE right? Skip the HEADER (singular) for it. It's just loud IMO and doesn't offer any performance gains.

The rest of the system I really can't speak for on the 5s-fe. I KNOW the header is loud.

I didn't know OBX made an exhaust for the 5s-fe? Hmm, learn something new everyday.
With an exhaust on the 5s, you may very well lose torque. A lot of 4 cylinder engines use back-pressure to produce torque. A more free flowing exhaust = less back-pressure. Less back-pressure = less torque.

Forgot to mention that one. You WILL lose torque and gain a TINY amount of high end horse power. I'd keep the torque since its what really offers the "fun to drive" element.

O/P this is off topic but hopefully relevant to your thread, has anyone ditched the resonator, placed the muffler where it was, and then ran tail pipe to the bumper?
So -
Header to CAT, CAT to Muffler, Muffler to long tail pipe. Why have the muffler at the rear, why not under the car?
I wanna know how it sounds and why does everyone keep the resonator? Does flow through the CAT make it sound evil, thus making the resonator mandatory?
Thanks,
73
FWIW: if I were to CAT back, I'd set it up like mentioned above (well minus cat)!

like said b4 if u eliminate the resonator ull loose torque and for me it would prolly sound horrible if no resonator and muffle under the the car, it would b loud as a mothereffer
A nice muffler should be fine if you just want some sound. I like the Apexi N1 knock offs at K2Motor.com. Cheap and they sound GREAT. Search around here. There's videos.
73... To answer one of your questions... If you remove the resonator it WILL sound bad. Raspy and loud.

73sport, why would you want to put a muffler on an already low car under the lowest part of the chassis? I know my completely stock '99 rides low enough to bottom out just pulling into my driveway. I just don't think any decent muffler would fit without rubbing and bumping issues in what imitates the old drive line tunnel.
