brake pressure

the brake pedal looses pressure when i keep it pressed. if i release ir and press it again it gains some pressure but looses it again
i did the test of removing vaccum assist with the car off and when i turn the engine on pressing the pedal, the brake pedal sinks to the floor. is this signal of air in the lines or bad master cylinder? thabks.

BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY
ON–VEHICLE INSPECTION

1)Depress the brake pedal several times with the engine off
and check that there is no change in the pedal reserve
distance.
2)Depress the brake pedal and start the engine. If the pedal
goes down slightly, operation is normal

You need a master cylinder and a fluid FLUSH Pronto!
** Be wared that, YOU MAY LOOSE ALL BRAKING! **
** Stop driving and REPLACE THE MASTER CYLINDER! Its your life and that of other unsuspecting people at risk!

Also, search for other posts or read up on replacement so the push rod to the MC is adjusted properly. Many have replaced them only to find they needed to shorten the rod slightly to keep the brakes from dragging. This is a case by case basis. . .
