2001 Camry PO401

I've replaced the VSV and EGR modulator and the check lite still is going on and off. The vacuum hose on the bottom of the modulator kept coming off so I put a clamp on it. The lite stayed off then came back on, should I now replace the EGR or could this be a vacuum hose issue somewhere. Car has 74k on it.

Thanks

Welcome the the club. I am fighting with P0401 too (with no luck so far, but I didn't invest much time in looking for a reason of it yet).

I found these pdfs are very useful:

http://www.motor.com/magazine/pdfs/092009_04.pdf

http://www.motor.com/magazine/pdfs/112009_04.pdf

And - search. There is a TON of information about P0401 here (or P0402 that is caused by the same reasons).

You need to pull the hose off and inspect it. I would probably go ahead and replace the hose if yer putting a clamp on it to keep it in place. What does the other end look like?

Did you make sure the EGR tube is clear and not carbon fouled closed?
