5SFE Rattling noise on Right side, Timing Belt Service needed !!!

Just a Heads Up:

1998 Camry 5SFE with 68,000 miles, starting to get a rattling noise that was getting gradually louder. Noise is noticable in the morning when the car is cold, but stops when warmed up.

I mentioned it to my Mechanic, who is a personnal friend and know for 20 years, asked me what side is the rattling coming from. When I told him, he said timing belt Pully/Tension Idler needs to be replaced. The Tension Pully sized up and made noise. Timing belt service was needed.

It is the Tension Pully inside thats Rattles, at this point, I told him to do the job.

Recommended :

1. Change Timing Belt
2. Change all the Pulley's/Tension Idlers(Toyota Box says Idler on it)
3. Change the Water Pump

My car never ran better. It runs so much smoother and very quiet now.

Thanks

Re: Timing Belt Cost

Hi:

I have not recieved the bill yet, but my mechanic did mention he spent a couple of hundred in parts.
Normally I buy the parts Online for a better price than paying full retail price at the toyota dealer, but he warranty's all the work.

So he bought all the parts inorder to warranty it.

NewToyota Parts include:

Timing Belt
Tension Pullys
Water Pump
Thermostat
Antifreeze

I had some other work done, Transmission Service ect.

I will post just the Timing Belt only cost, parts and Labor.

Thanks
