Parts & Camry Built in Japan

I ordered a windshield reservoir for my Camry from an online source. The identified the proper part via the VIN. The part identifies the car correctly, i.e. CMRY/91-93(w/ ABS). The part is LT-TY2064ABSA / TO1288102. However, this part is slightly different than the original. For instance it does not have the third screw mount to fix the hose from the engine coolant. Also the hose that connects to the motor has a slightly different size that would result in a leak.

I can get the above to work but it begs the question why the part has some variation. Supposedly this 93 Camry was built in Japan. Could that be the reason? But if so wouldn't the VIN still identify it properly?

If it wasn't an OEM part, then that's the problem.

Maybe someone screwed up somewhere. If they used the VIN, they should have gotten the right part. Japan made camrys have a VIN that starts with the letter J. Kentucky made ones start with 4.

Thansk for the reply and you are correct on both parts. The VIN does start with J and they guys who sent it did mess up. The part number of what was ordered does not match the part number of the part I received. Actually, I should have realized that earlier as the part did come with a motor although I ordered it without a motor.
