99 Camry Left (Driver's) Side Axle Removal
Can someone give me some pointers on how to remove the left side axle from the transaxle on a '99 Camry with the 5SFE and auto transaxle?
I read a post about turninging the axle a 1/3 of a turn so that the clip will be pointing down and then prying on the axle to pull it out. I don't really understand how you know when the clip (that you can't see) is pointing down. There really isn't any room to pry on the axle either. Does the metal ring on the transaxle need to come of first? If so, how do you remove it? Just remove the 6 bolts and pry it out?
I pulled the motor and trans to do some work and I actually had to pull it with the axle still attached to the transaxle, but it was a pain to move the car around prior to that since I couldn't get the tire back on because of the axle. I'd like to remove the axle before putting it back in, but I'm not sure if that will happen or not.
Thanks,
Wayne
