3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Was looking for a cheap, economical driver. Have owned many Toyotas, but never a Camry. I decided I wanted a 2002 or 2003, but they were all beat up. While I was looking, I ran across this 1999 4cyl LE. It has 94k miles, sunroof, ABS, side airbags, upgraded stereo and alloy wheels. I also liked the the color, Diamond White, which seems to be rare.
I was never real fond of this body style, but it has grown on me! Tell me what you think.
That's how I felt when I first got it. The body kinda turned me off... but after I did some work to it, I really fell in love. It looks sweet with fogs and bezels like the XLE models.
It'll grow on you when you drive it to. Especially if you change the suspension to a tighter setting. They handle surprisingly well in auto-x with minor suspension modification.

Does anyone know if all the Diamond Whites were all two-tone?
This one is real clean. No colisions or paint work. No smells or stains. I bought it from the second owner. He is the finance manager at a local dealer and an older couple traded it in a couple years ago with only 70k miles. When he saw them trading it in, he said "I am going to own that car!". He drove it for two years.
I laughed because he got rid of it for a 95 BMW 5-Series. It only had 90k miles on it and was spotless. I told him he was going to be disappointed.
I think I paid too much for it, but I really wanted a nice one, and they are few and far between. I saw some real junk out there. I gave $5,800.00 for it. The only thing I have found wrong is the back lighting behind the LCD on the stereo is out. Is there any way to fix this?
Nice car (however, I prefer 1MZ over 5S, but this is just me ) and welcome to TN!
of course you do...who doesnt.

for 5800, i would say that ya did. but keep in mind the thing will lst well into the 200Ks before needing any major work...as long as ya take good care of it.
Bought this a year ago. 99 Solara SLE V6 99k miles. One owner with all records. It was a trade at a Lexus store. Didn't really need it at the time, but couldn't pass it up. Ended up selling our 06 Mazda3 and keeping this. Year and a half and 15k miles later, still love it.

Looks even better now. Put a new set of Michellin Primacys and 20% tint all the way around. It has Graphite leather, sunroof, JBL. Car was near perfect. Still runs great for an 11 year old car. The A/C is amazing in this thing.
