mine are rusty and ugly, want to replace them with new ones, but cannot find a match.
i tried some spare M6x1 bolts, but they don't fit (or do they?) i think ... didn't want to strip the metal clips, maybe i should have tried harder hehe.

90080-17066 for 2 and 90179-06127 for 1 I believe. Doesn't give you the stats on the actual thing though...

sorry but i don't follow... there is no license plate bolts in above diagram ... only metal clips they screw into
where did you take those part numbers from and what 1 and 2 are you referring to ?
Oh... those would be the clips, woudln't they? Part numbers are from the FSM. 1 and 2 as in the QUANTITY of parts. But oh well.

Best thing to do is just bring one of those bolts to some place like Ace Hardware.. they have those things that allow you to figure out what size bolt you have.. then buy two of those and you're set. If you find out, let us know :]

I just went out and unscrewed mine, and they are M6x1.0 so maybe yours are full of rust and crud. Why not run a tap in the hole and clean it out a bit, add a little oil, and try the M6x1.0 bolt again.

perfect news to me
and yeah there was hell lot of rust in holes and on original bolts
also, i "checked" them by trying on an M6x1 nut on rusty original bolts ... probably that's a sole reason why it didn't fit hehe... anyways, it happens that i just have 2 spare M6x1 bolts from Home Depot
thanks man.

CONFIRMED, M6x1 they are on my ride too
I used 15mm long ones, they were exactly same length as original ones (if they were original LOL)...
this evening replaced them quickly with a cordless drill and 10mm socket.
didn't have time to play with cleaning threads in clips manually, so I forced new bolts in fast with a drill, went in effortlessly, all they needed was faster rotational speed (not even torque).
2 minutes and done, new shiny bolts holding the rear license plate
