USA oil filter cup wrench (for 3/8'' drive) - LOVE it! :D

hey guys,

just wanted to share how much I love this Imperial Tools cup wrench for the oil filter. it works perfectly fine on my 5S-FE oil filters (used 3 times so far):

This one is IF-6567C (65/67mm or B cup size per manufacturer ... whatever they mean hehe).
I bought it in Walmart's at like $4. it's made of some composite plastic and fiberglass and has a metal insert for ratchet extension (3/8'' drive). I LOVE IT!

Imperial IF-6567C
e.g. for Purolator PureOne PL14476/PL14477
e.g. for FRAM TG4967 (not that i recommend those filters, but it's easiest to check in store if it fits if you know FRAM oil filter part number hehe)
It also fits Toyota OEM and Denso filter for 5s-fe perfectly fine, I would guess it fits them ALL (for 5s-fe application of course)!

so far I was using my own precious hands to remove my 5s-fe oil filters, because I found ZERO working jaw grip pliers or strap wrenches that would fit this small sized filter (they were either spinning around it or crushing it spilling oil out).

Now, i'm looking for the Imperial part number of same type cup wrench, but for my 1mz-fe oil filter ... anybody using it ? anybody knows which one ?

this is the manufacturer's website:
http://www.imperial-tools.com/tools/...enches_02.html

I LOVE that thing! It's amazing.

If you find one for the 1MZ, let me know, I'm looking for one. Doing that change last weekend sucked. Burned my hands

EDIT: I guess the easy way is the way I found the 5SFE cup...go to advance and grab a filter for the 1MZ then try it out on all the cups till one fits!

Yeah, those things are the shiznit! I've got 3 of 'em in diff sizes. I've got one that fits the filter for my Camry and the Avy (same filter) but it's a different brand, and metal.

Get one of these, it adjusts to fit most all filters. Comes from Sears.

yeah, i also found another option, to get a 4-pak of metal ones from HFT:
http://www.harborfreight.com/4-piece...hes-94096.html

but then i just need one more, don't want to have total of 5 (with 1 double) when i will be using just 2 of them
... trying to minimize amount of garbage in my trunk hehe...

OK, i think i got it figured out which Imperial cup wrench tool fits the 1mz-fe filter (standard OEM size).

so this is how i think i found it:
a) WIX filter 51348 for 1mz-fe:
http://www.wixfilters.com/filterlook...asp?Part=51348
says the top diameter is 2.921''

b) metric-conversions.org says
Answer: 2.921 " = 74.1934 mm

c) Imperial Tools website says 74mm cup wrench (15 flute) is:
IF-7476C (composite plastic) or IF-7415 (metal)

now, where to find that tool ... Walmart's ?

On my 1MZ-FE I only tighten it by hand.

you are always supposed to tighten by hand only
those sockets are for easy removal ... e.g. to avoid hand/arm burns from exhaust manifold

Chris, go to Wal-Mart, they have one for the 1MZ You'll need to use a 3 inch extention along with it. I love it! Also, but a set of cotton gloves of sort, I find that helps!

Thing about the plastic ones is with time, the inner cup wears out a bit. Took 3.5 years of oil changes on 3 cars for mine to finally wear out, so they do last awhile But yes fenixus, that tool is awesome!

dang, just checked my closest Walmart and yes they sell it (7476C for 1mz-fe) ... though they were sold out on this one LOL
all they had was 2 pieces of 6467C for 5s-fe and 1 piece of something huge (9497C or something).

Then i checked out their oil shelves as I was looking for Royal Purple 5w-30 supply ... and they had only 3qts

later in the evening or tomorrow evening I will go to the other Walmart and see if they have it. i hope they are also better stocked with oils

funny, my local Autozone doesn't carry RP oil at all.

yeah, but AAP oils are expensive like hell (same about AZ) unless you get it on promo DIY oil change deal together with filter. I no longer buy oils in AZ since they always give some crappy filters like FRAM with everything even Valvoline ... unless they sell M1 FS with M1 filter then i can take it from them.
AAP is not bad with oil promo deals (I like their Purolator Pureone filters at $2 extra over the deal price).

... but since i've got my own stock of OEM filters (case of 10) all i need is a good (e.g. Walmart's) price on Royal Purple

ha! got it 7476C in my hands

tested it on Fram TG3614 (for 1mz-fe) in store and it fits perfectly well and tight

they had plenty of 1mz-fe filter cup wrenches in the other Walmart at $3.97
... though the other one did not stock Royal Purple at all (not even an empty shelf) hehe ... i might wait a couple days or week to pass and re-visit the first Walmart to check on RP stock

shit ! the joy was short
7476C (74/76mm & 15 flute) does NOT fit the original OEM toyota filter 90915-YZZD1 for 1mz-fe ... so it's rather just for WIX (not 100% sure but there is listing of a bunch of NAPA filters that fit this one), FRAM (e.g. TG3614 fits), Motorcraft (e.g. FL400 fits), etc ...

the problem is that the Original Toyota/OEM (and Denso likely too) filter has only 14 flutes with 74mm diameter while this socket has correct 74mm diameter it has 15 flutes so they don't fit together

i guess next step is to get 4 cup sockets from HFT at $5.99 and see if any of those fit ...
because as far as i know Walmart doesn't carry metal Imperial cup wrenches and the only one of them that would fit OEM 1mz-fe filter would be IF-7414 (74mm & 14 flute design)...
