Humming Sound while in Drive and Accelerating

My Camry 94 LE started making humming sounds from yesterday. It comes from behind the dash and starts as soon as I shift into Drive mode and also increases when accelerating. The hum is not there when in idle. It is so irritating and much more so since I can also hear it in the car radio.

Any suggestions?

When I shift into the Drive Mode and the car is not moving, that's when the humming sound is there. So wheel bearings are out of question.

When you say that it increases with acceleration, is that pitch or loudness or both?
Does it happen in reverse?

Ya mean the noise comes through the speakers??
Spark plug wires or bad ground on the head unit is my first guess.
