Do you have a Harbor Freight Tools retail store in your area? If so, you might be able to pick up a torque wrench there at a decent price, without waiting for one to be shipped to you.
If you have an Autozone or Advance Auto parts in your area you could have gotten one from their loan-a-tool program possibly, but it is nice to have your own. It's also used for the axle nut on the wheels.
You said your torque wrench is 3/8 drive, so you'll need to get an adapter in order to mate to the 1/2 drive socket.
"I have a "beam-style" torque wrench. The 30mm 1/2 drive socket I got on ebay will be perfect, and this job can wait for now."
That should work fine. I have a friend who thinks the beam type torque wrenches are actuallly more acturate than the cheap clicker style torque wrenches, at the lower ends of the torque settings. He is a long time tool and die man, so I value his opinion.

D'OH! Should have asked Autozone. Would have saved the $10 but like you say this way I have my own.
The TW is actually 1/2", I forgot I had a 3/8" adapter on there. So we're good!

I have heard the same, which is why I got this one years ago!
