92 Camry Le won't start ...Help ....

Hi all,

92 Camry Le 2.2 litre automatic.

Started right up this am , and ran great for a half minute or so, backed up 10 feet and it died, I tried 3 or 4 restarts, nothing at all, no hint of starting, just cranking over at regular cranking speed.

I might have been out of gas, the tank said 3/4 full but as I recall it's been reading that for a while (several days).

It might have been out of gas, my buddy brought me 3 gallons to put in this afternoon.

Cranked it 5 or 6 times, nothing again.

I pulled off what I think is the intake hose, (2" + diamater) , opened the butterfly and squirted a couple good squirts of starting fluid in it.

Cranked but once again didn't even hint at starting.

Checed the fuse to the fuel pump , seems good.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Check for spark at spark plugs. Pull distributer cap and see if rotor turning on attempt start to determine if timing belt broken.

My tools are at work , I'll pick up some tomorrow, I don't even have a phillips screwdriver here....

I pulled off one spark plug, when it gets dark I'll crank and see if I see a spark.

Tomorrow I'll take off the cap and see if the rotor turns.

Thanks.
