Autometer Ecometer

I really wanted one of these, until I found out that it won't work with the standard OBD2 connector...has to have access to a CAN bus to work...sigh...any other ideas? A regular vacuum gauge would work, I guess, but that gauge is really cool looking. I was thinking a good place to hook into manifold vac would be at the "gas filter" on the back of the manifold...

I was thinking about mounting a vacuum gauge in the car just to be able to monitor how healthy the engine is at any given time. My dad used to have one of the old school "motor minders" in his 87 Toyota P/U. Mine is a 97 camry with 2.2.

Then buy and install one! Or, you could pick up a scangauge II like i have (plugs into the OBDII port). Moniter your throttle position, fuel pump, instant mpg and other fun things.

Looked at the link. Features are good, price is right, but no info on warranty. Putting up a $200 price but cut to $60 looks suspicious - like where did the $200 come from in the first place. I tried to Google mfg'r Nexzor but no info except 2 employees, if that's the right listing. Anybody else have one of these?

I got one about a week ago. It's replaced my ScanGauge II as it's easier to read and has more information available at my finger tips.

It's thinner than the SG II and takes a little while to git used to it.

From their Policies page...

Quote:
Warranty UltraGauge is offered with a 60-day satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied for any reason within 60-days from the delivery date, just return UltraGauge in its original condition for a full refund of the purchase price. Units exposed to cigarette smoke are not covered by the satisfaction guarantee.

UltraGauge is warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Within this period, Nexzor will, at its sole option, repair or replace any components that fail in normal use, including parts and labor.

Using these ODB2 scanners would be your best choice instead of the good ol' vacuum gauge. If you're into ecomodding, these computers let you monitor your progress easily.

Thanks for the tip.

I thought I was familiar with all the OBDII scan products available. That's a new one for me. Looks interesting.

Better than a trying to drive staring at your laptop on the front seat.

Wow $60 that's cheap game to bet on

Let's tear one apart and find the secret of cheap. We might find a few GPL violations along the way. (one way to develop a product on cheap - base the software off some other open source stuff, at least with a royalty free architecture)

Mine does a whole lot more and is $380
