4th Generation Wiring Leds to Dome Light

Ive been trying to wire my led strip to my dome light so they come on when the doors open. The only problem is, when I wire it to straight to the trigger/ the led comes on when the door is closed and turns off when its open.another problem was that the led gets dim when more than on door is open...
Did i tap into the wrong wire?

What color(s) is the wire that you tapped into? Got piccies of what you did?

Which trigger are you talking about? The door switch is ground based...

Dont have any pics, but its just one red/green wire coming straight out of the door switch. Was this the wrong wire to tap into?

probably...there is a switch on the door that when it is open it engages the dome light...look on the back of your door jam and see if you can find the colors of that contact switch...then wire you leds to that and you should be good...

yeah, the red/green wire im talking about is coming out of the switch in the door jam. But it seems to work backwards, it turns on when the door is closed.

reverse the polarity...maybe that will do something...you have the light activating when the switch closes...and maybe if you reverse it then it will work when the switch opens...or...take the wire from the dome light itself and tap off of that...a little more work but it'll do the job...
