help with strut part numbers

hello fellow TN members

i am a bit puzzled.

i am about to order struts and am unsure which strut fits my car

on the tokico website it say camry VL10 yr 92-94 part# HZ3138
and
camry VL10 yr 94-96 part# HB3170 / HB3180

my chassis is MCV10L i think...

Vehicle info:
94 camry 1mzfe mcv10l

can both struts fit?
does anyone know if there is any difference between the HZ3138 and HB3170?

can somebody please help me

Here's the deal. 1994 is a weird year and got 2 different kinds of struts. Serviceable (the cartidges can be replaced) and non-serviceable (the entire strut has to be replaced). What you have right now doesn't matter since you're upgrading to tokicos. I do recommend getting serviceable struts though. If you happen to need a replacement in the future, a cartridge alone is cheaper than the whole strut. Not that it really matter with tokicos.... lifetime warranty and all. So yes, both types of struts will fit. I believe the HB's are serviceable... but DOUBLE CHECK. Hope that helps.

hey lynch thanks for the info.
i would love to get serviceable struts but i would think i would need the oem strut housing to go with the cartridge in the first place. i always try to change the struts when needed (every 50k miles or so) and i cant remember if i had serviceable in the beginning

so both struts fit without problem? i found both the HZ are waaay cheaper and the HB expensive.

and the HB are serviceable? that would be awesome if they are.... im sold,

i just dont want to buy a pair and turn out they dont fit...

any body have coil springs Fronts only for sale?

change ur mind on the springs lynch?

If one is wayyy cheaper make sure you aren't buying just the cartridge for a serviceable strut though. I almost made that mistake when I ordered my struts online.

Both struts will fit without any problem. MAKE NOTE OF THIS: No one has ever tried to install tokico cartridges in a factory serviceable strut. I'm 75% sure the HB's are the serviceable ones... but like I said, DOUBLE CHECK. And no, I want to sell my springs as a set of 4.

edit: EVERY 50,000 MILES?!?!? What are you doing to your suspension to make it wear so fast?
