Exclamation Running Rich ??

So my car is in the shop... again... I swear I believe it think its a BMW

But in all seriousness... the mechanic while driving my car around said there is high smell of gas and fumes... he continued on about it then said its running rich. I smell the smell he is talking about all the time but I thought it was nothing.. sometimes it would come into the cabin but the car would be running fine and no warning lights on the dash so I just came to the conclusion it was normal.

But my car get terrible MPG... idk how much MPG i actually get but I can CONSTANTLY filling up my car... more then I think I should be doing in a 4cly. My V8 powered GS400 burns gas less gas then my camry. I could put some gas in my camry.. drive around and LITERALLY WATCH the gas needle move lower and lower.. it makes me suck

The smell of a rich exhaust is different than the smell of raw gas. If your car runs fine and smells of gasoline there's probably a fuel leak somewhere. Could be a small crack in the line between the pump and the rail. At idle the pressure is lower and it may not leak, but when you rev it up and the regulator bumps the pressure up it starts to drip.
My v-6 gets 24 MPG. You should be able to better that.

Thats right! I believe when the engine is not warmed up it runs rich for some time. Also dont confuse the smell with the smell of catalytic converter that has a very obnoxious smell.
