Cleaning the dashboard?

The plastic cover specifically, what do I use to clean it so it shines? Maybe a stupid question but mines all dirty, and a bit scratched up. Anyway to minimize the effect? I'd tried Windex but I'm not sure if it's safe to use on it lol

And this is probably a newb question but how do you properly wax a car? Do you wait til the water dries after washing the car, and then spray the wax, then rub it around? I want my baby to shine!

Don't use the Windex anymore, the ammonia will dry out the dash. I like to use a good leather conditioner/cleaner, like Lexol. You can get a bottle of the cleaner and separate conditioner for 10$ each bottle or less. Don't use a lot, a little goes a long way. Do not use it on the pedals, that stuff is really slippery. it sure keeps the dash moist, so here in Hotter 'n Hell TX, the dash won't crack. I also use it on the doors, and all of the interior panels, plastic or not. It's good stuff. The smell isn't bad either. Use the cleaner first on a different rag, don't mix the two. Let the dash dry for a few minutes after using the cleaner, then apply the conditioner. It will smear on glass and plastic cluster lenses, so be sparing with it. I like to apply the conditioner, wait a few, buff with a clean cotton towel to a nice shine, then reapply a second coat, wait, then buff again. As far as the clear cluster cover, the right way to do it is to remove the cluster from the dash, then use Meguire's Plastx to buff out the scratches. Mine is pretty bad, but I have decided it's worth the 20$ to just replace it with a new lens assembly.
