the gas pedal sticks...when I go under the hood, and twist the plastic pulley that the cable attaches to...when I let the pulley go, the cable going to the gas pedal does not want to slide back in. Does that mean the cable from the pedal to the pulley is bad ? Should that cable snap back into the covering or is there no return spring on the pedal itself ?? Is that cable tough to replace ?? thanks

The problem with that thread was I may have given the wrong info...when I put new info in, does the thread get recycled and go to the head of the line again (page one of the threads)...if that is what happens, then I will not start new threads like that again. When I first get in the car, if I pump the gas pedal several times hard before starting the car...it does not stick. That sounds like cable trouble to me...especially since the cable from the plastic pulley coming from the gas pedal does not snap back in place as it should when the pulley is manually turned (braided cable... from pulley to pedal... does not snap back inside the protective cover when I let go of the plastic pulley...needs a little push with the finger)...sounds like a bad cable ?? other than the throttle body...I am still going to clean the throttle body on both the camry and the T-100...but I have a funny feeling the cable is bad and was hoping for some input. Do you have any thoughts on that...or just venting your "peeve" !! Sorry...I am rather new at this and not up on all the forum do's and don'ts. I really appreciate all the input from everyone and was not trying to upset anyone.

Even though I did not really believe that cleaning the throttle body was really going to do the trick with the sticking gas pedal...I will never, ever doubt you guys again. I did not realize that the butterfly was inside there, and that is connected to the plastic pulley that the gas pedal cable moves. As soon as I cleaned the throttle body with the super creeper stuff...the gas pedal problem went away ! Once I looked inside the throttle body and saw the butterfly (looks like the choke in old cars with carberators) I realized why you suggested I clean that...lots of black **** came out that I mopped up with paper towels. Thanks...and sorry for doubting...I should have known better.
^ Make sure you clean the back side of that butterfly valve inside the throttle body. There's more build-up on the backside of that butterfly valve and the area where it seats when at idle inside that throttle body, than in just about any other area. If it's not all removed it will build up again sooner than if it's all removed.
Here's a thread with some good pictures on how to do it on the 5SFE engine:
