Help - Brake problems

Have a 95 camry, noticed a few weeks ago, when I brake- the pressure would disappear and then when I pump it - it comes back. Last weekend I bled the brakes -inspected everything, no leaks, no problems, the brake fluid was also changed and is still (full). Thought that would fix the problem but it is still there and wondering what else could be the problem (master cyl?) need to figure this out before I run into someone!

Any advice would help........

J

Seals in the master cylinder, I believe.

Try a new master cylinder.

Rear Drum or disk? Poorly adjusted rear drums will cause the pedal to fade.

I would adjust the rear brakes (if drum equipped), before replacing the master cyl. This is the exact problem I had with my 1999 and my moms 2002, a rear adjust fixed both. It seems that the "self-adjusters" either don't or don't adjust well enough.

Brake Booster

Went outside to test the brake booster also, don't know if I tested it right but pumped the brake pedal engine off felt like it should, started up the engine and felt the 'normal' slight release, turned off the car, pumped the brake, it was stiff again and then the pressure was released from the pedal when the car was off............wouldn't this be the booster?

BRAKE BOOSTER ASSEMBLY
ON–VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. OPERATING CHECK
(a) Depress the brake pedal several times with the engine off
and check that there is no change in the pedal reserve
distance.
(b) Depress the brake pedal and start the engine. If the pedal
goes down slightly, operation is normal.

I read that thread before I did the test, I guess I am wodering since it lost pressure after I turned my car off when I was pumping it, that means it's bad right? Any loss of pressure after the car is turned off is the test (meaning it's bad)? thanks for the replies.
