4th Generation

I would check the wiring where the trunk shuts The main wiring runs from the driver's side and splits on my 99 and the back of the trunk. The right side runs to the passenger side at the rear of the trunk lid under the channel on the rear deck under the back speaker area to the right. I would look for a broken wire on the right side of the trunk lid where it would get stress. Sounds like it might be shorting/grounding out. My 2 cents on it.
