3rd & 4th Generation (1992–1996 & 1997–2001)Toyota Camry Discussion for years: 1992-1996 & 1997-2001
Topics of discussion range from fuel economy, safety, modifications, performance all involving America's favorite family car, the Toyota Camry.
Well since the holidays are coming, I'll be spending some money on painting my hood and bumper and possibly my mirrors, but besides that, I promised my Camry I'd get Depos, but I'm on the fence about it. I've also been considering HIDs...I can't do both due to costs, I can spend up to about $200.
Depos:
Pros:
-Will make the car's front end look completely different and new, very nice looking.
-What I originally wanted because OEM lenses look like ****.
Cons:
-$80 more than HID
HIDs:
Pros:
-They seem really bright, and I hate night driving, hell the lighting sucks on the Camry and on parkways it doesn't help, I sometimes use high beams just to see (like today when it's pouring).
-They make the car seem nice.
-Cheaper than depos.
Cons:
-When I go for inspections I have to switch back to old bulbs...but that's only once a year.
-Blinds other people and can possibly lead to an accident with like a .001% chance if it's some idiot...lol.

What are your guys opinion on this? What should I go for? I wish I could do both but sadly it's not happening.
sylvania is crap. Even in comparison with Phillips 9006: http://store.candlepower.com/bfcopo90hbpo.html Though, also pricey. BUT these ones definitely worth it (I didn't try HIRs but heard a lot of positive feedback about them too).

Depos is probably what I'll go with, since I also don't want to deal with cops.
Those philips bulbs...are those the size I need (I don't think so)? I might order them if they really are bright, I need good lights for night driving. I don't need any other modifications to the housing, just plug n play? I have the 97 Camry...I'm pretty sure it's 9003 and not 9006 but I need to check.
Rally car style HUGE driving lights custom mounted in the bumper and to hell with everybody that cant see!! Just means they will move outta yer way!!!!!!!!
Seriously....I would get the HID's, save up for some projector retro fit eventually (I know I am gonna nailed to the wall for that one)....but I am way too picky and we dont have to deal with much here...I will aim them slightly lower and deal with it as I go....I MIGHT get the DEPO's and do the retrofit in there....I am really on the fence on that part though myself.
I havent found a GOOD looking retro yet that I approve of.....I did a retro in my Legend and you couldnt tell they WERENT that way from the factory....so my being super anal came out very well in that....on the camry...still shopping and looking yet.
HIRs!! I had them for a couple of months before I got my jdm headlights. They are great!! get the HIRs and a headlight polishing kit and your good to go!!

Well which is preferred, HIR or those Philips? And what color of light do they give off (yellow or white)? Don't even need DEPOs?

Eh lol.
Lol I'd say go for the HIRs. They are pretty cheap in price on candlepower. I think i paid like 44 for my set. They give out a nice white light that is very dense too. Good buy!! Also idk if it matters but they come stock in Dodge Vipers.
