Hood Rust / Failing Paint ('97 LE)

Love my Cammy to DEATH but the paint on this car is not so great. I'm the second owner so I dunno if it's ever been repainted but the hood is severely faded, has tons of these little 2-3mm lines (like cracks) and there are a couple of nasty bubbles. Think I'm going to have the hood painted. How much should I expect to pay?

Thanks!

It really all depends on where you go. Most Automotive painters get from $15.00/hr to $17.00 per hour.

It will take them a few hours to prep the hood for paint. The cost of paint depends on what your car color is. You could always get your color code off the door jamb and call NAPA and ask them how much a pint of Your color would cost in a Single Stage.

Some painters will paint with Single Stage, some will paint with Base coat Clear Coat. Depends on where you go and how much you want to pay.

I paid $700.00 in just supplies to paint my 96 Honda Accord.

$700.00 Included:

Paint
Thinner
Stabilizer
Hardner
Primer
Sealer
Paint Sticks
Paint Funnels
And some Sand paper Pads for the Air Sander

I used a Single Stage Frost White to paint it. White is the cheapest paint you can get because there is nothing mixed in it. You start mixing colors and the price goes up. That was for a Quart though too. All in all it was around $1000.00 for me to paint my whole car myself including the price of Wax, Buffing Material, etc..

I would say to expect to pay around $300.00 - $500.00 to have someone paint it.
