So after my long wait I finally got the tires delivered today and headed straight to the store to get them mounted and balanced!
17" x 7" MB Seven X wrapped with Hankook V12's 205/50r17. No spacers, no rubbing.. just the way I like it
So here are my questions:
I want to do a rear drum to disc conversion (yes I've read the DIY AND the six pages that follow it..) I'm STILL confused on everything I need. Now disregarding brake hose cause mine are fairly new, here's what I think I still need:
Rotor
Caliper
Caliper Bracket
Is there anything I'm missing?
Also.. the store charged my "NYS Waste Tax" when I didn't have tires that I needed thrown out.. did they rip me off $10? Should I call back to get refund or am I missing something about this waste tax.. thanks.
Call that place. They didn't have anything to throw out, so yes.
Anyways... you have the 4cylinder right? You'd need es300/wagon backing plates (which come with the parking brake lines), es300/wagon calipers, and wagon/es300 rotors. THAT'S IT. I also recommend upgrading the front brakes. The es300/wagon rears are bigger than the 4cyl fronts.
edit: get a 15" spare too. The 14 inchers won't clear the those rotors.

Isn't the V6 also equipped with rear disc brakes that are equal in side to the fronts? And what's the backing plate.. I saw the DIY and it looked exactly the same as the original how is it different?
edit: The old "backing plate" was just part of the housing for the drum. The new one has a location to bolt on the caliper bracket.

If they sold you the new tires, you owed the tax. If you got 'em from, say, Tire Rack, you didn't owe it.

Ah, I see the difference now..thanks for pointing that out Now, if I use a V6 sedan rear disc brake setup, do I have to get the backing plate and rotors and calipers + brackets all from the v6 sedan? In other words, which parts are interchangeable between the different models?

No prob! And yes, you've got it. Backing plate, rotors, and calipers with their brackets. All the parts just swap around onto the control arm (or whatever that piece is that the hub and backing plate mount to.)

I wouldn't advertise that... I don't think anyone is gonna want to deal with you now. Just buy everything from rock auto like I did. And get the backing plates from a junk yard.

Haha not banned.. suspended, cause my little sis decided ebay was a free place to get the entire barbie collection.. (over 1k of stuff.. that i didn't pay for obviously) so they suspended me..
Yeah, was gonna mention that I needed one but I guess you saw it first
Same name as username.. had good feedback and rating too but ebay is really cracking down on things, far more than it needs to.. in order to get more people to sign up and feel like its a safe place to shop
haha. they are pretty close and they look GREAT man.. his are the SevenX's (on left). mine are the Weapon's (on right)...but i like the uni-lug pattern wheels ALOT better. but thts just me.

I bought a set that had uni-lug cause I really like those better too.. but then they called me and told me they were out of stock and discontinued BUT they gave me a great deal on the wheel and tires.. $500 shipped total with lug nuts and valve stems
BTW, didn't know you had MB wheels, always liked the style of your wheels.. so I guess I subconsciously got these to copy you :P
I would suggest doing front and rear brake conversions at the same time. I went from drum to disc in the rear with es300 parts and from single piston to dual piston es300 calipers up front. Only pain in the ass was the E brake cable. Have fun with that one!
EDIT: I believe the rear brake hoses are different in the 4cyl than in 6cyls.
I was mad, I couldnt reuse my SS lines fore the rear.
