Hi guy. My 96 Camry V6 just got vibrate after a start. It is very little at the beginning around 20km/h, and getting more and more violent when I add more gas below 50 km/h. However, it will be good after a full stop, or a traffic light, a while later, without turning it off.
The vibrate can be felt from the floor. The engine is tight. Someone told me it could be an engine misfire. Does anyone else have this problem? Thanks in advance.
Thanks, Ali. The engine is very firm. The car starts with no problem. Something leads me think the issue is related to the temperature. Once the car gets warm up, and you have to drive it from 0 speed, the vibrate is gone.
I did the throttle clean as the vedio, since it is an 20 minutes job. The problem is still there drivng me nut. I am going to order the spark plugs and replace them because it hits 200,000 km maintenance anyway.
Hoping anyone out there having the similar story can have input on this.
If it were a misfire you more than likely would be throwing a code.
I would check into cleaning your entire intake system. I recommend using 6oz. of seafoam. Spray it into your intake keeping the rpms around 2000rpm's once 6oz is in there, drop it to an idle and turn the car off. Let it sit for 5 minutes and then restart it. Drive it aggressively to remove any excess carbon build up.
No code thrown. The engine light is off. I read a couple of threads here. They mentioned transmission, cv join/shaft, tire bearing, but all of them have a consistent symptom, and non of them link the vibrate to a cold/warm up engine.
I changed all 6 spark plugs with NGK iradium-x. Nothing changed. It vibrated baddly from the floor during the first 1 KM, and ran well after three stop signs. It is really fraustrating.
Maybe a warped exhaust manifold or a bad exhaust manifold gasket for the noise, it may get better as it warms because things expand. As far as the vibration, could be a lot of things. maybe a bad injector. you may want to try to run some injector cleaner in there and see if it help at all.
Actually, I dumped a whole bottle of injector cleaner into the gas tank when I refilled the gas last time. It did not help.
What RPM does your motor run at (Cold) Idle?
What happens sometimes is the intake manifold gasket starts breaking apart and you will have a vacuum leak right at the IM when cold. When it heats up, it expands and makes a seal with the head again.
Take a can of carb cleaner and lightly spray around the intake manifold when cold and see if there is any change in RPM.
If theres a noticeable change in engine speed you found your problem
It's between 1800-2000 RPM when at cold start and will down to around 700 RPM at normal temp.
Actually, I just replace the intake chamber gasket when I replaced the valve cover gasket this week, since this is 200,000 KM maintenance part. The spark plugs and wires just replaced as well. Nothing helps so far.
I cleaned up the throttle body yesterday. It does not help. When it vibrated this morning, I shifted to N from D, and engine RPM goes up easily, and sounds perfectely.
Just wondering if it is related to the wrong shift with auto transmission when the car is cold.
Actually, I found the vibrate a couple of times even when the engine temp was normal recently.
Should I check the CV joints or shaft? There is no any strange noise when I turn right and left though. Fraustrated.

Could be a bad motor mount, causing your motor to have excessive movement putting stress on your axles.. This could cause a vibration while driving too.
Here is an example of how to tell if a motor has excessive play in the motor mounts. It's not always noticeable by just looking if a motor mount is bad. When you apply a load on the motor, it will spread the motor mount apart if its cracked and you will be able to see more clearly what mount is bad. As you can see from the video, the dog-bone motor mount is moving a LOT ehe. I have excessive vibration at idle, and it shakes a little while driving sometimes if the mount is twisted just right. I am changing it to a Gen 4 dog-bone mount though Most of the time, if a motor mount is bad, you will have vibration all the time..
You may also want to look into cleaning the IAC Better. Cleaning the Throttle Body alone sometimes doesn't clean the IAC good enough. Heres a good write up on there for that .. Shows how to remove, clean, and re-install.
Would the vibration stop if you let go of the gas? Or shift into neutral? And even maintain higher engine rpms while in neutral? (Test in a safe area of course)
Just wondering if this is transmission related -- specifically the torque converter lock up clutch?
When was the last time the ATF was changed? Pan dropped and cleaned? Strainer replaced? etc
