1998 Camry Overheat Problem

My old 1998 Camry v6 got overheating problem after I mistakenly drove it on Second mode (instead of Drive mode) on highway for 5 min recently. I've tried to add coolant, change thermostat and the temp sensor, the problem alleviated a little bit but still existed. I did notice that the fan will not work even the temp is high so I am guessing there's probably some electric problems. The weird thing is there's no code on computer and the fan is OK (cause it's still works when AC is on)

I'm wondering anyone here can offer some help... Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Radiator switch? (bottom of radiator). Follow the extension lead from it to where it is plugged in at top of radiator, when engine is running pull that plug at the top of the radiator and the fans should switch on.

Sounds like a coolant temp circuit is malfunctioning. Most likely the coolant temp sensor as mentioned above. Driving in 2nd really should not have anything to do with it.

Check out the resistance on your Fan Switch using your FSM

The Fan switch engages when the coolant reaches a certain temperature. the AC Fans turn on when the button is pressed in the cabin.

Sounds like your Axillary fan switch is faulty, but its hard to tell without checking the resistance on it

I just found that from the repair manual. Thanks for your information. I guess you mentioned the ECT switch. The fans should switch on if I unplug that switch. From the manual, if not, I should check the "fan main relay". "cooling fan relay", "cooling fan", fuses and the short circuit between the cooling fan relay and ECT switch.

Since the fans is OK when AC is on. I think the fan main relay and the cooling fan should be OK. Right? Should I check any fuses? Thanks!

The temp is high (in the red zone) when I drove.
