4th Generation What octane do you run in your 1MZ-FE

I've been running 89 octane and I've been wondering should I go with premium or drop down to regular?

What do you guys run in your V6's?

Yea I didn't really mean that this thread should be the one stickied but the question gets asked enough that it should at least be on the FAQ, and I know there have been some good discussions of what octane should be used with the 5sfe vs 1mz and why, I'll try to find one of them after I get out of work, Or maybe make a good explanation of octane rating and what it means.

incredible, I just realized that "worst" regular unleaded (95 RON) fuel in Europe is actually 91-21 octane (using US/CA index of AKI) ... what an irony ... and here in US it's called PREMIUM ...
then next step up grade (98 RON) is ... 93-94 octane (again using american AKI index) ... most states/stations around here don't even sell such fuel ...

AntiKnockIndex = ( RON + MON ) / 2

nice hehe, you ever tried it in your 1mz-fe yet?

I know some stations in NJ somewhere have the racing fuel too, and buddy (long time ago) mentioned they had something like 116-120 AKI fuel ... but it was of course terribly expensive ...

I know where I can pick up some 103 AKI [also known as (R+M)/2] in the middle of no where Bedford Country Virginia. ~$4.00/gallon, IIRC.

Nope haven't tried it. Can't too high an octane be bad as well?

For your wallet.... But yes, I think it can cause pre-detonation issues. But then again, i'm on zero sleep right now and need to stop posting on TN.

That makes no sense. Wouldn't it just cause detonation issues period because it's harder to burn?
