Im currently in the market for a remote start/alarm. Im thinking of going with a Viper system but Im not sure yet. Im looking for something relatively Cheap but still good Quality. Any thoughts suggestions and links would be appreciated. Also any personal experiences good or bad. Thanks in advance.
I liked my Python system. The ONLY bad thing was that the remotes were cheap. Hell, I still have it up for sale. Viper is made by DEI... along with Clifford, Python, Viper, etc. They tend to make decent stuff.

I just looked a little bit before bed and I think Im leaning toward the Viper 5701 at this point. Haven't really looked in depth tho. I will more when I have more time tomorrow. I saw a video and I really dislike the way it says what it is doing aloud. Im sure that is most likely an option you can disable if you want.
Yes, the voice module is an ADD ON for DEI products and doesn't come with the kit.

I've installed a lot of Bulldog alarm systems without issue. The only issue I had was on a Nissan Pathfinder, for some reason when you put the ignition key in and turned the key to the "on" position it would cycle the starter for a second (grinding noise). Problem solved by turning the vehicle off first then turning it back on.
I have had a basic model viper alarm/door locking system for almost 3 years and have never had any problems with it. Just makes me feel a little safer. Also idk about remote starts. with as many times ive sat on my keys and accidentally set off the panic button i would be to afraid that i would start the car on accident and not realize until hours later.
That particular remote requires a service plan .. I would just get a remote start that's connected to a remote. I wouldn't personally like that particular model just because you would have to pay monthly or yearly depending on service contract.
It's all up to what you want to do though.
Any remote start will work though.
I always liked the simple push a button, and it starts

I have the Python 2-way 1 mile range alarm with remote start, tilt sensor, proximity sensor. It's the same as the Viper one, just the remote looks a little different. It has the LCD screen and is rechargeable. I like the 2-way page a lot. The remote start is useful because you can also put the car into "pit stop" mode, as well as leave the engine off and let it cool down after hard driving. I originally had the older version, but decided to upgrade. Total cost was $550 installed.
Yeah it seems you may need to purchase the app, but I'm not completely sure what that service plan entails.
Requires service plan
1-year service plan is included (additional fees may apply)
Whatever that means ^
You may want to contact them to confirm what you actually pay for and ask about the service plan

I had a remote starter and sold it for a few reasons:
1. more stuff to break! all i wanted was a way open and close the car without a damn key and to protect it from theives who would want to steal my high powered uber awesome camry. these parts WILL fail eventually and repairing them and the potential misshaps when the stuff does fail turned me off (but mine was a viper and not rated great).
2. installation was uber expensive three times the actual unit. i have had 4 friends who have installed systems liek that themselves...all f**ked up, one is an EE even(though he doesnt have a lot of common sense).
3. Ive herd from several places that it is not a great idea on an old car. when we have issues, especially in winter, with fuel, spark, starters (long starts), old wiring, and other issues that occure from meer age...a remote starter can cause danage to components.
now im not an expert and have little first hand experiance working with these, but these are things to keep in mind when looking into remote starter.
